Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and protect the information you share with us.
Last updated:
Pending legal review: this text may still change before the website launches.
This Privacy Policy explains how KG Construction (“KG,” “we,” “us”) handles information when you visit this website, request a quote or send us feedback. We wrote it to be read, not skimmed past. If anything is unclear, call or email us (details at the end).
The short version: we use your information only to answer your request and work with you. We never sell it, never share it for advertising, and this website sets no tracking or advertising cookies. Quote requests are deleted automatically 24 months after the last activity on them.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Quote requests: your name, email address, phone number, the type of project, its city, your description, timeline, budget range, how you prefer to be contacted, and any files you attach (such as plans or photos). We also record that you agreed to our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy, when, and which versions.
- Feedback: if we ask for feedback after a project, your star rating, comments, and, only if you check the box that allows it, the name you’d like shown with a published review (for example, “Maria, Nipomo”).
- Messages: anything you send us by phone, text or email.
Please don’t send sensitive information such as Social Security, driver’s license or bank account numbers through the website.
Information collected automatically
- How you found us: while you browse, your browser remembers (in “session storage,” which is erased when you close the tab) any campaign tag in the link you followed, the website that linked you to us (its address only), and the first page you saw. This is sent to us only if you submit a quote request, so we know which advertising and listings work.
- Anonymous action counts: when someone opens the quote form, taps the call or email link, chooses Residential or Commercial on the home page, or switches language, the website records that action, the page, the language, and whether it was a phone or a computer. These counts contain no IP address, cookie or other identifier and can’t be linked to you.
- Visitor statistics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and page views. It doesn’t use cookies, and it reports totals only, such as top pages, referring websites, device types and countries.
- Spam protection: when you open the quote form, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you’re a person, not a bot, using signals from your browser. We also store a one-way, scrambled code (a “salted hash”) made from your IP address with each quote request, to stop the same sender from flooding the form. We don’t store your IP address itself.
- Hosting and security: like every website, ours is delivered by servers that receive your IP address and basic technical details (such as your browser type) to send you the page and protect the site from attacks. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may use strictly necessary security cookies for that purpose.
Cookies and videos
This website sets no cookies for tracking, analytics or advertising, so there’s no cookie banner. Some of our videos are hosted on YouTube. They load from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced service (youtube-nocookie.com) only after you press play. From then on, YouTube’s own privacy policy applies, and YouTube may set cookies.
How we use information
- To answer your request, prepare an estimate, and talk with you about your project
- To keep track of requests and projects, including internal notes and follow-up reminders
- To email you a copy of your request, and after a project, to ask for your feedback
- To publish your review, only if you allowed it, showing the name you chose
- To understand, in total, how visitors use the website and which advertising works
- To keep the website and your information secure and to prevent spam and abuse
- To meet legal obligations and protect our rights
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising (targeted ads). We don’t give it to other businesses for their own marketing.
We use a small number of service providers who handle information on our behalf and only to provide their service to us:
- Cloudflare hosts the website and stores its database and the files you upload. It also provides the spam check, visitor statistics, and forwarding of email sent to our website address.
- Resend sends the website’s emails, such as your request confirmation and feedback requests.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people’s safety or our legal rights, or as part of selling or transferring our business (in which case this policy continues to apply).
Inside KG, information is available only to the people who need it to serve you, such as our owner, staff and the developer who maintains this website. They sign in with one-time codes sent to their email, and changes are recorded in an activity log.
How long we keep information
- Quote requests, with their attachments, notes, emails and any feedback, are deleted automatically 24 months after the last activity on the request (when it was received, updated, or last noted). You can ask us to delete yours sooner.
- Published reviews stay up until you ask us to remove them.
- Anonymous action counts are kept for 25 months, so we can compare one year with the next.
- If you hire us, we keep contracts and project records outside this website for as long as the law and our warranty obligations require.
Security
The website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Files you attach are stored privately and can only be opened by signed-in KG staff. Access to our admin portal is limited and logged. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if a breach affects it, as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we have about you, and give you a copy
- Correct information that’s wrong
- Delete your information
- Take down a published review, at any time
To make a request, email or call us. We’ll confirm it’s you by contacting you at the email or phone number in our records. We’ll respond within 45 days. You can also use an authorized agent; we’ll ask for proof that they act for you. We’ll never treat you differently for using these rights.
California residents: we honor the rights in the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) to the extent it applies to us. We have not sold or shared personal information (as the CCPA defines those terms) in the past 12 months. We don’t use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would require offering you a right to limit it. Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, we don’t share personal information with third parties for their direct-marketing purposes.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. Since we don’t sell or share it, you are already opted out. We don’t track visitors across other websites, so “Do Not Track” signals don’t change how this website works.
Children
This website is meant for adults planning construction projects. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Other websites
Links to Instagram, Yelp, HomeAdvisor, the Better Business Bureau, YouTube and the California Contractors State License Board take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
When we update this policy, we change the “Last updated” date above. If a change is significant, we’ll also note it on this website. Each quote request records which version you agreed to.
